Role Purpose

Reporting to the Head of HR, you will be pivotal in the interactions between the Senior Leadership team, employees and Human Resources, playing a key role in driving success. You will be responsible for leading on a wide variety of strategic and operational HR activities, including optimising employee engagement, development and maximising individuals’ contribution in achieving our Corporate goals.

This is a strategic and consultative role and you will be fully immersed in the business; leading on performance management; coaching and mentoring; and initiatives that inspire a flexible, high-performance culture and retention of key talent. In addition, you will take the lead on ‘Reward and Benefit’ improvement strategies and work in collaboration with our two existing HR Managers.

The Team

The Human Resources team is a highly regarded, pro-active team with presence at board Level. We have a busy agenda of performance improvement and change management activities in support of the business strategy. This role is one of three HR Managers, each with responsibility for a specific business sector and defined HR project work. Also in our wider HR team, we have the in-house recruitment team, HR advisors and administrators.

Our HR team structure is designed to:

Drive and instil behavioural change across the consultancy business to maximise employee engagement, which directly impacts on improving business performance and profitability.

Provide a robust HR function that fully supports the business agenda now and in the future and can adapt and flex as needed.

Increase consistency and capability in HR support function, thus future proofing the structure.

Ensure value for money.

Play people to their strengths and thus ensure greater productivity and commitment.

You will be responsible for line managing a HR Administrator, collaborating closely with HR colleagues across the team as well as supporting the development of junior colleagues.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

Provide high-level and practical, insightful HR advice to Senior Leaders and their management teams.

Ensure that strategic resourcing needs are defined and implemented to provide an operational framework, combined with innovative and practical approaches to the delivery of an effective resourcing plan.

You will take the strategic lead on ‘Reward and Benefit’ for the company and will be responsible for advising, developing and delivering a programme which will enhance the attraction and retention of employees.

Coach and mentor employees to optimise individual performance, engagement, development and career aspirations aligned to the business needs.

Provide high-level Talent Management and Succession Planning advice and guidance.

Ensure that high quality and meaningful HR and People Management information, reporting and forecasting is provided on a regular basis to inform sound business decisions.

To maintain a proactive engagement and participation with the wider Ricardo HR management to ensure the people management initiatives for Ricardo Energy and Environment are aligned with the Group HR strategy.

Regulatory and legal compliance.

Partnership working with QHSE Manager.

Key Skills and Attributes

Chartered MCIPD is essential, as is attainment to Level 7 CIPD Diploma or equivalent.

Proven operational and strategic HR management experience at a similar level.

Previous experience of coaching and mentoring, ideally with a recognised qualification.

Excellent understanding of employment best practice.

Demonstrable experience of leading, developing and implementing ‘reward and benefit’ strategies.

Pragmatic and commercially minded, with ability to quickly identify best solutions for the business, weighing up risk and advising/guiding accordingly.

Comfortable making decisions and ability to handle ambiguity confidently.

The ability to test and challenge assumptions.

Outstanding networking and influencing skills.

Composed, professional, committed and a team player with a positive, can-do attitude.

Experience of positively influencing change within an organisation.

Evidence of CPD.
