Title: Ecologist (Bird Surveyor)
Location: Fieldwork across Ireland as required & office visits in Ennis or Cork monthly 
Flexibility: Allowed to work from home when not attending fieldwork

The dedicated team of professionals specializes in Ecological Surveys and Environmental Impact Assessments, contributing to the preservation and enhancement of our natural environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Undertaking a broad range of breeding and wintering bird surveys, including species specific surveys (for waders, raptors and waterfowl) as well as general surveys (including vantage point and transect surveys) according to Best Practice Guidance, within time scales outlined;
  • Using data tablets as well as survey forms in the field to produce high-quality field notes on standardised survey forms, including detailed and accurate mapping of data;
  • Thoroughly reviewing (including peer-review) of data and mapping produced within the Ecology Team;
  • Assist in non-ornithological surveying as required, to include bats, other mammals, invertebrates, plants, habitats and other taxa and ecological groups;
  • Drafting of baseline ecological reports, to include methodology and results with well-written text (in English) and data presented clearly using in-house formatting and styles;
  • To ensure maximum flexibility and to reflect the Company’s evolving needs, you may be asked to perform additional tasks that may be reasonably expected within your level of capability;
  • Collate and store ecological data to specified guidelines to ensure safety of data;
  • Promotion of RSK SHEQ expectations management and reporting.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of one year of practical experience in conducting Ecological Surveys and Environmental Impact Assessments (seasonal, freelance, or volunteering previous experiences in the Irish Ecological sector will be considered). 
  • Strong knowledge of the Irish Ecological/Environmental regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent fieldwork and data collection skills.
  • Proficiency in using relevant ecological survey tools and software.
