We have a unique opportunity for a highly motivated Survey Data Process to join our clients expanding geophysical department in an offshore capacity. You can be based on the East or West Coast, or travel for rotations, so the location is flexible. 

We are looking for someone with real experience of processing survey data, particularly for offshore renewable projects. The successful candidate for this role will be entering the company at a very exciting time as the company continues to grow on a steep trajectory within the renewable energy sector. 

Role preference is a full-time salaried position. Open to contractor based workings for the right candidate.

Role Summary

Reporting to the PM and Party Chief, this role is responsible for supporting the team to ensure operational success

  • delivering world class data to our existing client base. There will be both offshore and onshore elements to this role. You will be required to support the team with on-board data processing, QC and management of all relevant acquired survey data.

You will be required to relish the challenge of working to deadlines, problem-solving and to organise the processing priorities to ensure the delivery of the survey results as agreed in the project execution plan. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and coverage of raw data is at the required standard; review and check the survey logs; process acquired data sets using the Company's selected processing software, and assist with the preparation of reports and deliverables to client specifications.

The ideal candidate will have (marine sector) experience as a survey data processor and have worked within the geophysical survey environment or equivalent. The role is both challenging and rewarding in equal measure for someone with the right combination of skills and knowledge and will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to shine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Focus and attention to detail are essential to the role. 
  • Competent with survey processing, GIS and knowledgeable in data processing techniques using Qimera and Quinsy offline. 
  • Support the marine geophysical, environmental and aerial survey departments to ensure that best practice is adopted in relation to data processing across the company
  • Inform Party Chief and Project Manager on data processing problems and/or issues 
  • Assist the team with project preparation, data processing and reporting
  • Review and QC the project documentation and final reports to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Remain up to date with industry software and processing techniques

Qualifications and Experience

  • HND or Degree qualification in a related discipline and/or professional accreditation or a comparable level of expertise.
  • 2 - 4 years minimum experience in data processing and reporting of deliverables, preferably, in offshore renewable survey works.
  • Experience in the use of different software packages
  • Accurate and analytical approach to work
  • Confident with geodesy and survey datum transformations
  • Must hold a valid recognised and approved Offshore Survival and Medical certification.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; 
  • Microsoft project experience preferable

Knowledge and experience with the following software & survey systems: (not essential)

  • USBL systems. iXblue GAPS experience is desirable
  • MBES systems Kongsberg Systems or equivalent. R2Sonic 2024 is desirable
  • Survey management software. Familiarity with Qinsy is desirable
  • Magnetometer systems Geometrics or equivalent
  • Sub Bottom Profilers, hull mounted and pole mounted. Familiarity with iXblue 3.5 T3 is desirable
  • Side Scan Sonar systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental and geotechnical data collection and processing
