Community Ranger

Community Ranger

Passionate about Parks?

Help us to create and maintain inspirational parks. The Parks Trust is a charity that owns and manages 6,000 acres of parks and green space in Milton Keynes.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, personable individual with excellent communication skills who is self-motivated, organised, confident and tenacious but with the ability to remain calm and engaged.  You must be able to work on your own, using your own initiative and be willing to go that extra mile in making a positive difference to the community.

The successful applicant will help ensure the parks are used appropriately and deal with misuse or anti-social behaviour in both a pro-active and/or reactionary way.  The role involves patrolling the parks, engaging the public, reacting to problems (motorbikes, illicit swimming, fly tipping, dog fouling etc.) as well as supporting wildlife issues. You will maintain and develop excellent working relationships with other agencies such as the Police and safer communities. At times you will help support our Events and ‘Outdoor Learning teams, (including providing assistance at our events and undertaking presentations to schools etc).

A full driving licence and the ability to work weekends and evenings are essential. You’ll need to demonstrate a real affiliation with the green open space.

This post will suit someone who enjoys working in a team but can also work on their own initiative. The annual starting salary for this role will be £21,000 - £25,000 (dependent on experience).

You will be joining a ground-breaking organisation and be part of a high-performing team with a great range of staff benefits: ongoing support and training, excellent contributory pension scheme (up to 10% employer contribution), income protection and life assurance cover, enhanced maternity and paternity allowances, occupational sick pay, generous annual leave allowance, great office in a parkland setting with free parking alongside other additional benefits.

The Parks Trust is committed to safeguarding and will always recruit all personnel in line with government guidelines, relevant legislation, Charity Commission guidance and best practice standards.

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
