Fixed term contract and/or secondment opportunity for LBE employees until November 2019

This exciting post is a continuation of the successful award by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of Ealing Council’s parks for people project to restore and develop the listed Walpole Park, the setting for the Grade 1 Pitzhanger Manor House.

The park is one of Ealing’s best-loved parks with over 1 million visitors annually and hosts the Ealing Summer Festival.  The funded project conserved and improved the heritage value of the park, engaging with visitors and volunteers through the activity plan; including developing a wide range of educational events and activities and an extensive wildlife and horticultural volunteering programme.  

The park manager, based in the park, will have an important role to play in the continued delivery of this project, ensuring its longevity after the funding period ends and will have expert horticultural knowledge and experience; (including Regency planting), and will be responsible for delivering the Heritage and Green Flag management and maintenance plans.  

The park manager will demonstrate first class communication skills and a wide and varied experience of working with and managing contractors, volunteers and community and voluntary organisations.  The park manager will manage a small and dynamic team to promote, encourage and develop the broadest range of involvement and activity that enables enjoyment of the park by all its visitors and ensure its longevity after the HLF funding period ends.

Applicants will need an appropriate professional qualification or degree in horticulture, land management or significant proven experience in a similar role.
