Admin & Communications Coordinator - Forestry & Nature Restoration

Overview

We are a small, independent forestry and nature restoration business based in the west of Ireland, working primarily with farmers, landowners, and community organisations across Galway and Clare.

Our work goes beyond standard forestry services. Alongside core farm forestry and woodland establishment, we are actively developing and demonstrating innovative, ecologically grounded land-use models, including:

  • Farm forestry & agroforestry systems
  • Native woodland establishment and restoration
  • Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF)
  • Bog and wetland restoration projects
  • Climate-resilient and experimental forestry approaches

A key part of our mission is education and knowledge-sharing. We are currently developing:

  • A Farm Forestry video series with the Department of Agriculture, documenting real projects on working farms
  • Woodland promotion and farmer education initiatives
  • Field days, site visits, and community-based learning events

We aim to show what good forestry and land stewardship can look like in practice — grounded, local, and realistic — while quietly pushing the system in a better direction.

The Role

We are seeking a part-time Admin & Communications Coordinator to support the running of the business and help organise, communicate, and share our work.

The role combines admin and organisational support with a strong communications and content component, particularly around the Farm Forestry Series and woodland promotion projects.

There is clear potential for this role to grow into a full-time position after an initial trial period, as the business develops.

Salary, Hours & Working Arrangement

  • € 17 – 21, - /hour Depending on Experience & Variety of skills.
  • 16–20 hours per week (2–2.5 days) initially
  • Flexible hours
  • Remote / hybrid, with around one day per week working together, especially early on
  • Being based in the Galway / Clare region (or nearby) is likely necessary
  • 3–6 month trial period, with review and potential to increase hours

Admin & Organisation

  • Manage emails, enquiries, and follow-ups
  • Support forestry and funding applications
  • Document and file management
  • Basic bookkeeping preparation
  • Occasional event organisation (field days, volunteer days, workshops)

  • Manage social media for the Farm Forestry Series and related projects
  • Schedule posts and write/edit short captions
  • Organise photos and videos
  • Basic photo editing and visual organisation
  • Finalise and maintain website & content
  • Coordination of nature education signage

Skills & Experience

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Comfortable with admin, documents, and digital tools
  • Good written communication
  • Confidence using (or learning) website and social media platforms
  • Interest in forestry, nature, land use, or environmental education is a strong plus

Forestry experience is not required.

What We Offer

  • Meaningful work connected to real, on-the-ground restoration and forestry projects
  • Opportunity to grow with a developing, values-led business
  • Varied work combining admin, communications, and project support
  • Flexible working arrangements with a mix of independent and collaborative work
