Apprentice Carbon and Utilities Officer - Post Ref: CC976

National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage for age 25+, 37 hours per week, 2 year fixed term, You will study towards an NVQ Level 3 in Energy Management. 

This is a new and exciting role for an individual to learn and flourish in an area of growing importance, profile, and opportunity.

The Council’s Corporate Asset and Facilities Management Service is a high-performing and supportive team committed to ensuring that the council’s estate is fit for purpose, safe and runs efficiently. A key element of this work, which is more important than ever, is the council’s approach to heating and lighting its buildings. This includes purchasing utilities (gas, electric and water) and their control and management, supporting the council’s priority of tackling the climate emergency and delivery of financial savings.

This role will undertake energy assessment, monitoring and management, and support the delivery of energy performance and improvement projects. This will involve attending sites to fault find and meeting and agreeing works with appointed contractors.

The individual will need to be technically aware, numerate, a good communicator and, above all, be keen to learn. The successful candidate will start the learning journey from day one and will be supported to be able to make a significant contribution to the service’s objectives.

It is envisaged that the candidate will become a member of the Energy Managers’ Association and acquire technical status within the Energy Institute.
