Salary: competitive, dependent upon skills and experience

South Staffs Water delivers clean, safe drinking water and excellent customer service to our 1.6 million customers across our two operating regions, South Staffs Water and Cambridge Water.

Reporting initially into the DWSP and Audit Manager you will be working within a busy department responsible for ensuring compliance with drinking water quality legislation requirements across the business. You will be a strong advocate for all matters relating to drinking water quality and the supply of safe, clean drinking water to our customers. Our ideal candidate will be engaging, adaptive, flexible and willing to pick up and contribute to other regulatory and water quality management functions and to support the team as required.

We are looking for a dynamic, confident and forward looking individual to drive forward our source to tap drinking water safety plan and water quality risk management process. As part of a small team you will collectively engage with technical and operational staff across the business to develop and embed our processes, and to ensure timely and accurate reporting both internally and externally to our regulator. As this role involves compliance with regulatory requirements, our ideal candidate will have a proven background in this area, as well as having excellent stakeholder engagement, organisational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Running parallel and interlinked to the above you will be actively support the Company’s water quality and compliance audit programme including developing audit themes for the year, tracking, and reporting on our compliance within the business.

Key responsibilities

• To drive , enhance and continuously improve the Company’s Drinking water safety Plans
• To drive, enhance and embed the water quality risk management processes within the business
• Actively participate in the water quality and compliance team audit programme, leading on selected aspects
• Being an advocate for drinking water quality matters within the business


You will have a good understanding of current legislation and best practice relating to drinking water quality as well as a strong drinking water quality background and a good understanding of operational assets. Ideally educated to degree level, you will have a proven track record of delivering excellence, continuous improvement and imparting a ‘can-do’ attitude into your team, colleagues and partners.
