Project Manager – Network Capital Delivery - Mains Cleaning

Salary: Circa £50k per annum dependent upon experience (plus company car allowance)
Hours: 37.5 Hours per week - Monday to Friday
Location: Green Lane, Walsall or Fulbourn Road, Cambridge. (Travel between both regions may be required)

At South Staffs Water we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. We aim to achieve this in the most affordable way, which requires the successful implementation of our Network Investment Delivery Programmes. We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager, to join and develop a team to successfully deliver our engineering projects.

In this role you will manage a Mains Cleaning Programme from feasibility, design through to delivery along with the support of our inhouse specialist and our supply chain partners. As part of the role you will develop and implement processes to achieve efficient project delivery safely, on programme, to budget and delivering quality, whilst applying knowledge of NEC4 contracts.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Embed an industry leading Health & Safety culture throughout the team.
• Build and lead a team of engineers and manage our supply chain partners to scope, design and deliver the mains cleaning programme in the South Staffs region.
• Assisting Stakeholders in developing agreed scopes, to cover an identified investment need and manage and prioritise contracts and drive innovative solutions and undertake cost benefit analysis.
• Provide project management and engineering expertise.
• Evaluate work package tender returns and provide recommendations for contract awards in conjunction with internal procurement procedures.
• Prepare and submit project estimates, monitor costs against budget baselines and adhere to financial regulations
• Review costs and support with the preparation and submission of contract payment certificates
• Promote effective and efficient delivery of projects taking all practicable steps to enhance the Customers experience and minimise disruption.
• Monitor and track project progress and costs versus forecasts and budgets, providing expenditure re-forecasts monthly and taking steps to mitigate risks to budgets.
• Prepare monthly reports to the Board on contract performance, compliance and variance to budgets.
• Collate and review method statements and risk assessments, in conjunction with client and contractor and ensure adherence to them in project delivery
• Liaise with supply chain partners and both internal and external key stakeholders to project completion and handover.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing and delivering a multitude of projects utilising the NEC4 suite of contracts. You will hold a BSc/BEng/MSc/Meng in Civil/Mech/Elec/Envl Engineering, possess excellent report writing skills and have a working knowledge of CDM Regulations. You will demonstrate good timekeeping, you are hardworking, and prepared to, go the extra mile. You can be ‘counted on’ to deliver what you say you will do. You are able to respond where changes are required, and you seek and / or provide support to others in achieving your team’s accountabilities. You will be competent across the Microsoft Office suite, including MS Project and have experience in financial budget management. As Health and Safety is a key business priority, it is essential to be able to demonstrate a commitment to high standards in health and safety management and as a minimum, IOSH Managing Safely/APM or PMQ.
