Through our climate emergency declaration East Riding of Yorkshire Council is committed to reaching net zero carbon emissions for our own services and operations, and to ensuring that the East Riding is prepared to transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy.  To achieve this, we are looking for a Climate Change Manager to lead on the development and delivery of a Climate Change Strategy for the East Riding, supporting the Council in becoming more resilient to the impacts of climate change.

It is expected that the successful candidate would lead on developing the Council’s response to climate change and work with communities, businesses and partners to reduce emissions and establish the Council as a climate change leader both within the East Riding and nationally. This will require the ability to drive climate related behavioural change both within the organisation and in partnership with stakeholders in the wider authority area.

You should:

• Be educated to a degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
• have experience of working within a climate change related field, to demonstrate a commanding understanding of relevant issues.
• be experienced in project management, policy / strategy development and partnership working
• have in depth understanding of climate change and resource efficiency technology and legislation

This role requires a candidate who is able to inspire colleagues, partners and communities to take action on climate change mitigation and adaptation, while developing an ambitious and deliverable corporate Climate Change Strategy. 

This post is a three-year fixed term post for 37 hours a week and will sit within the Council’s expanding sustainable development team.
